Community-led permaculture design

that starts with the land, works with people, and builds something that lasts.

Permaculture design rooted in place, people, and the long view.

Community-led projects are complex. They involve competing needs, limited resources, and land that has its own history. I work with community groups, organisations, and individuals across Scotland to develop food-growing spaces, conservation projects, gathering places, and participatory plans that last.

My work doesn’t stop at design. I’m interested in the ways people connect with land through growing, through writing, through simply paying attention.

My starting point is always observation by understanding what’s already present, what people actually want, and what the land can genuinely support before anything is designed or built.

How I work

I don’t arrive with ready-made solutions. Instead I help you:

  • Clarify what you’re trying to achieve
  • Read your site, resources, and community honestly
  • Develop practical, phased plans you can actually implement
  • Build the capacity within your group to carry the work forward

Every project starts with a site visit and conversation. Design work is then tailored to your timeline, your budget, and what will genuinely serve the place.
