The Project

Facilitated a fortnightly cooking club for home-educated children exploring global cuisines. The group met at Project Cafe, where children learned about food from around the world while developing practical cooking skills in a fun, collaborative environment.
What We Did

- Child-led sessions exploring recipes and food traditions from different cultures
- Created opportunities for children to design and compile their own cookbooks
- Connected global food awareness with local action by fundraising for a nearby food bank
- Balanced educational content with playful, hands-on learning
- Let children make decisions about what we cooked and how we contributed to the community
Outcomes
- Children gained confidence in cooking and understanding global food cultures
- Produced their own recipe collections and cookbooks
- Made tangible contribution to local food bank through group fundraising
- Created a regular social and learning space for home-educated families
- Demonstrated how food education can connect global awareness with local care
